
98% of respondents in the Citrix State of IT Complexity in India report admitted that they used hidden computer applications that were outside the official IT policy.
"This is happening largely because of the need to be productive at all times. From WhatsApp applications for business communication to Dropbox to transfer documents, there are applications that are not governed by the company's IT policy and most people are using it in one way or another, "said Makarand Joshi, Vice President Area and Head of country, India.
While this indicates that the IT function does not yet provide enough tools for employees to be productive, it also represents a great security risk for organizations.
The growing complexity is slowing digital transformation efforts and restricting cloud adoption, finding study and reducing complexity and increasing security is a priority on the agenda of CIOs and companies in India.
Joshi added that, while the complexity of changing business needs will continue, IT teams must allow users to access any application on any device transparently, as it could affect productivity.
The study also showed that only a third of the companies surveyed had made real progress in their digital transformation initiatives to be a scale at which commercial benefits were derived.
Other key findings include:
- 38% of organizations in India believe that their IT environments are significantly more complex or more complex than two years ago compared to an average of 53% of organizations in the Asia Pacific region and Japan.
- 39% of companies in India use more than 100 business applications, more than 31% in the Asia Pacific region and Japan.
- 89% of organizations in India are already adopting cloud technology in the form of SaaS solutions. 92% are already approaching the movement towards the cloud in a strategic way, and are currently using, developing or planning the development of native applications in the cloud to measure.
- 88% said that they were losing all the benefits of analytics, while 46% said that the effectiveness of the analytics that was being executed was being hampered by the scattered nature of their data and applications.
- 94% of Indian companies offer flexible work options, however, for 62% this is highly restricted, which creates frustration in flexibility.

Digital transformation
- 99% committed to digital transformation. India is also leading the region in its digital transformation progress, with 34% stating that it is in a mature state of digital transformation; this is well above the Asia Pacific region and Japan's average of 22%.
- 55% expect to reach the maturity of the digital transformation in a period of six months, with this figure increasing to 88% in a period of 12 months.
